SAPP RECEIVES "THREATENING" SMS & PHONE CALLS OVER NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION AGAINST PM
Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Yong Teck Lee claimed that threatening short message services (SMS) and phone calls have been received by the party's two members of parliament Datuk Dr Chua Soon Bui and Datuk Eric Enchin Majimbun and their aides.
In view of this disturbing turn of events, he said SAPP had taken extra caution on the safety of its MPs by calling them back to the party headquarters here for consultation on the next course of action.
The consultation would centre on their safety as well as their families and offices, he said in a statement Monday.
Yong, a former Sabah chief minister, said events in the last 24 hours had taken a disturbing turn since SAPP announced its no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi last Wednesday.
On talk that a demonstration would be held in front of SAPP's office in Tawau Tuesday, he said its Tawau officials had been advised to lodge police reports, not to provoke the demonstrators and take leave from the office until tension had eased. – BERNAMA
