KUALA LUMPUR: Police have interviewed Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan who accused de facto PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of sodomising him.

It is learnt that a task force, set up to investigate the allegations, interviewed the 23-year-old aide to Anwar yesterday and immediately conducted a follow-up into the information provided by Saiful, including visiting and investigating the alleged crime scene.

A police forensic unit was seen at the condominium in Damansara where they spent almost five hours.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar declined to divulge details.

“We need to be fair to all parties concerned and we assure the public we will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter,” he said.

To a question, Ismail said police have yet to receive any report from Anwar, his family members or his agents with regards to the alleged threat to his (Anwar’s) life.

“How can we investigate who, when, where and what the threat is all about if there is no police report lodged,” he asked?

He said that if there was a report, police would investigate it just like any other report and gave an assurance that investigations would be done in a professional and fair manner.

Saiful had on Saturday lodged a police report alleging that Anwar sodomised him at a condominium in Damansara last Thursday.

He was admitted to the hospital here for a medical examination and is under police protection.
