KUALA LUMPUR: A former political secretary to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has lodged a police report against High Court Judge Datuk Ian Chin.
Lawyer Matthias Chang lodged the report based on two statements made by Justice Chin in Sarawak recently.
“On June 9 and June 24, Justice Chin used language unbecoming of a judge that was highly defamatory against the former prime minister in an open court in Sibu.
“And furthermore his statements have been contradicted by two judges, one former Court of Appeal judge and another a serving judge,” Chang said at the Jalan Travers police station in Brickfields yesterday afternoon.
Chang said that in his view Justice Chin had committed contempt of court in that his behaviour had scandalised the court and brought the judiciary into disrepute.
